Sabina's background: It all started way back from my mom's side of the family, a big clan of art lovers. My mother always had a camera in her hands. I got my first Kodak Instamatic at around 6 years of age. Mom and I bonded in the darkroom by both taking college photography classes at the same time. My mother was also in remission from breast cancer. When I was 20 her cancer returned, attacking her liver. She passed away a year and a half later. I dedicate all of my work to my mother and the unbreakable bond between parent and child. I have now been working as a photographer and fine artist for over fifteen years. In 2001 I received a BFA in photographyand a BA in psychology from The State University of New York at Buffalo. By working in both studio and documentary styles, my goal is to create an intimate and comfortable environment so that the photographs will feel natural and a true sense of my subjects can come through. I am a mom to a super energetic 4 year old girl, and a sweet 18 month old girl. I am also very involved in my daughter's cooperative pre-school and am therefore very comfortable around large groups of crazy toddlers.
What to Expect from your Session: I am currently booking studio sessions at Gracewinds Perinatal in Ballard, Seattle. I also do on-location shoots at your home, or an agreed upon location. Pregnancy is an incredibly intimate time that is unique to each family. Before our appointment I will set aside time to talk with you about what you are feeling and what you expect to achieve with the images. During our session, we will try out different poses, use different backgrounds, and play with lighting. We can shoot you alone, or with your partner and/or children. Our goal will be to create a portfolio of images that capture how beautiful you can feel during this time. Newborns are only "newborns" for the first few weeks of life. If you are interested in capturing this amazing stage of life, I reccommend coming in for a session before your baby is three weeks old. Children are amazing, and they grow so fast! Having some special images at different stages of your child's life is a wonderful way to keep these fleeting moments alive. I am well aware that when photographing children to expect the unexpected. Sessions with children will last as long as the children are having fun. *For babies
under 3 months of age, it is good to block out 2 hours of time for the
shoot. Babies at this age are still After the shoot I will create an on-line gallery for you with an edited version of our time together that you can share with friends and family. Your gallery will be available to view for two months after our session. About a week after you receive the on-line gallery we will make a time to get together and look at the photo shoot to decide on prints. Printing: I do my own printing. I spend a lot of time with the images after the shoot. You should consider the final prints works of art. Pricing: To fit different budgets, I do offer sessions of different lengths, and different types of packages. Link to "pricing" for basic information, or call (206) 484 - 3621 to talk about other options. All in all I try my best to make the experience as fun and easy as possible so that my clients come away from the experince, not just with beautiful portraits to treasure, but also with the feeling that the experince was positive and important. *The name Alexander Walnut was created in tribute to the names of Sabina's departed cats, her first babies. |
